sentinel node surgery recovery: sore, numb, hyper

I woke up at 5:00 am, having felt like I’d slept enough.

After waking up at the hospital with nothing in me but water to empty, this morning my usual routine resumed. After the surgery my urine was aqua and has gradually resumed its normal color. This morning, after my first BM, I noticed it was totally green. Bright spinach green. Don’t know what that is, maybe it’s the blue dye still coming out of my body, or maybe because the green salad was the bulk of my stomach’s contents. It was a little strange.

My friend Sue described well the feeling after surgery: like a load of bricks sitting in the armpit. I’m feeling more pain today. I’ve just taken the half capsule of Vicodin like I did last night so I could sleep. It’s an aching with occasional sharp pricks. My neck and upper body feel a bit stiff but otherwise I’m fine.
