coverage continues for mammograms despite guidelines

After the United States Preventive Services Task Force recommended that women begin annual mammograms after age 50 instead of 40, fears grew that women would be restricted from having mammograms at the earlier age. While there is disagreement between patients and physicians in acceptance of the new guidelines, the recommendation has not translated into rejection of mammograms ordered by physicians. Thankfully, it appears that if physicians order mammograms, insurance coverage is provided.
