Today is the second Friday of my chemo break. I find myself expecting that the side effects will simply vanish. Poof. Yet, to my constant surprise, they rage on. The most annoying is the neuropathy, which causes me to drop nearly everything I pick up, and the swelling in my hands and feet. My left hand, especially, is badly swollen so that at times it is very uncomfortable. I hope this will dissipate soon and that it is not a sign of lymphedema, though I suppose only time will tell. I bought a compression bandage from the drugstore, and it seems to help a little. Mostly, I need to lie down to get the swelling to diminish. Hence, I have been avoiding the computer.
I notice that counting treatments or, in this case, absent treatments, is nearly an obsession with me. I wonder if I’m the only one.
