I wonder if Providence St. Vincent Medical Center had any idea that the Pink Glove Dance, released in November 2009, on YouTube, was only the beginning. If you don’t know what this is about, St. Vincent Medical Center organized pink-gloved employees from various departments to dance to Jay Sean’s Down. The video has had over 12 million viewers and has sparked enthusiasm at several other medical institutions. If you have not seen it, you’re missing a treat.
In fact, the enthusiasm grew so much that Medline Industries, Inc., a provider of medical supplies, has sponsored Pink Glove Dance: The Sequel. Medline will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of pink gloves and other items to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The ambitious production includes over 4,000 participants, 11 hospitals, 3 nursing homes and 5 sites of dancing breast cancer survivors. All videos are available at YouTube or from the PinkGloveDance site.
The song for the sequel is You Won’t Dance Alone by The Best Day Ever (I’m not pushing MP3 downloads for Amazon, but I’m including the link just for the information).
Kudos to Medline, to the dancers and to the behind-the-scenes’ supporters. The videos are fun to watch because the participants are irresistibly enthusiastic. Even after watching parts of all of them, I still wanted to watch even more.
The first video features breast cancer survivors dancing at five sites. The rest of the videos are health care workers at the facilities. Get out your pink gloves 🙂 and be ready to dance along.
