NBCC Project LEAD day 3

This morning we spent the last day together engaging in conversations about how to contribute to the goal of ending breast cancer in 2020. With the final presenter and a panel of both advocates and scientists, the day ended with discussions about how many roles we can play in advocating and helping to further the conversation on breast cancer. Working with research scientists is a goal for some members of the group, while bringing information to the women and men who seek it through writing or presenting at meetings is a goal for others. The advocates on the panel were diverse in their interests and spoke well to challenges that have helped them determine which role, or roles, they wished to play.

By the end of the meeting when everyone had worked hard, you might have thought that people would be rushing out. The reality was that people were having a hard time leaving, and small groups of advocates were scattered throughout the hotel lobby, huddled in deep discussion. The inspiration was real, and I think it is not going to fade for anyone who attended this meeting.
