ABC1 held its first conference in Lisbon

A new international conference, Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC1) dedicated to advanced—metastatic—breast cancer, which kills 500,000 women around the world annually, launched the first of its biennial meetings earlier this month (11/3–4/11) in Lisbon, Portugal. Congratulations are in order for METAvivor, a non-profit organization devoted to raising funds for research directed at metastatic breast cancer. Over several months METAvivor gathered information from the MBC community through a widely distributed survey. METAvivor’s president, Dian “CJ” Corneliussen-James, and board member, Kelly Lange, attended ABC1 to present the results of the survey in a poster presentation; METAvivor’s submission, “International Survey Identifies Key Support and Lifestyle Needs of Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Patients,”received ABC1’s first-place award for a poster in the patient advocacy category.
