RESEARCH breast density does not affect mortality

A researcher at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland studied the records of over nine thousand women and learned that breast density appears to have no effect on the death rate from breast cancer or other causes. While breast density does increase the risk of breast cancer incidence and also causes difficulty in reading mammograms, this study indicates no effect on mortality after a diagnosis of breast cancer.

It is always nice to read something positive about the behavior of breast cancer, and this would fall into that category. At least I know that my dense breasts are no longer an increased threat to my longevity even though they may have been part of the cause of my catching 🙂 breast cancer in the first place.
